WMS 2012 Bangladesh

The first ever World Marketing Summit took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh on March 123, 2012.

It was jointly hosted by the Government of Bangladesh and Professor Philip Kotler.

The theme for the Summit was ‘Creating A Better World Through Marketing’. The objective was to bring together global leaders in marketing and branding to discuss how marketing philosophies and insights can find effective and innovative solutions to some of the biggest challenges of the contemporary world. The WMS was designed to have a place alongside other leading global events such as the World Economic Forum in terms of bringing together leading social thinkers and activists.

The four areas selected for deliberation for the WMS 2012 were:

  • Human Resource Development
  • Health
  • Food Security
  • Green Clean Economy

The WMS 2012 involved a highly specialized group of experts to explore marketing solutions to the challenges in these areas.

The WMS 2012 featured more than 4000 participants, about 100 international speakers & many high-ranked political figures; thus covering business, entrepreneurship, academia, public sector, science and technology, health, media, communication, and environment.

The Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina and the Minister of Foreign Affairs – Dr. Dipu Moni, inaugurated the summit, followed by Prof. Philip Kotler (Founder & Chairman WMSG) & Dr. Supachai Panitchpakdi – Secretary-General of UNCTAD – United Nations Conference on Trade & Development.

Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) was the venue for all 3 days. There were multiple speaker sessions and plenary discussion sessions involving a highly specialized group of experts who explored marketing solutions to the challenges in predefined areas during these sessions.

Suggested solutions will be piloted subsequently in form of Incubators at renowned universities and institutions around the world before being scaled up.
